Capriccio e Natura

Civic Museums of Palazzo Buonaccorsi from 15th December 2017 to 13th May 2018

Second room of the exhibition

Following the temporary transfer of the paintings of the Church

of Santa Maria delle Vergini to the Musei Civici di Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the exhibition “Capriccio e Natura; Art in the Marche in the Second half of the 16 th century ” takes the opportunity to focus on that Sanctuary and on its role in the artistic life of the Marches at the end of the 16 th century.

From this extraordinary point of view, the lens moves to the plurality of artistic figures that operated in the Marches between the 16 th and the 17 th century.

By focusing on a specific turning point in the history of this region’s art, the exhibition aims to spotlight an area full of valuable pieces of art and architectural works - which suffered severe damages after the 2016 earthquake and must be gradually restored as soon as possible.
